I walk into a lot of buildings, day in and day out. To no surprise, each building I walk into, I evaluate ALL the details. Unfortunately, sometimes those details are messy. When going out to dinner with my wife, I will sometimes point out to her some of these “messy” details and the negative repercussions they bring to the life of the building. Needless to say, she is not quite as “enthusiastic” as I tend be.
The reality is, your facility is making a statement about you to your community. In fact it speaks without permission on your behalf about who you are and what you are like. Despite the cliché, “don’t judge a book by its cover”; people do and for some buildings, let’s just say the covers aren’t ideal. Your facilities speak of your character, your self-image, your values, your hospitality, and your style. Your facilities subconsciously send a message to your neighbors and influence their opinions about you. Facilities not only communicate to those outside, but also communicate to those inside the building as well. They speak to your employees, clients, competitors, friends, and guests.
