Evolving with a Client: A Look back on American Factory Direct Gonzales
American Factory Direct has six locations across the greater Louisiana-Mississippi, with 16 projects at three of those locations completed by our team here at Kent Design Build. Our tireless attention to detail, creativity, and efficient construction practices allow the Comeaux family, founders and operators of American Factory Direct, to trust that their vision will be carried out by Kent Design Build even as they continue to grow and develop.
When it comes to multi-location projects, consistency is key. For American Factory Direct, it was imperative that certain brand elements and building features were preserved, such as the iconic American Factory Direct signage. For the Gonzales location in particular, we aimed to mimic some of the highlights from our previous location build in Layette, LA. This meant translating the square-footage and capacity of the Layette location into the new structure, allowing the Comeaux’s to showoff their impressive selection with ample room for customers to stroll from section to section.
Of course, no build is completely without challenge, and with the Gonzales location, there were quite a few. Most surprising was the discontinuation of certain stone materials used previously to line the facade of past American Factory Direct showrooms, threatening the continuity of the branding. However, thanks to the ingenuity of our team, this problem was solved quickly. A replacement material that closely resembled the past stone was sourced, and large slabs of the previous material was cut into smaller pieces and repurposed as stone caps, maintaining the integrity of American Factory Direct’s vision.
