Ochsner Medical Center Cyclotron // 15,798 SqFt // Pharmaceutical Space and Offices
An existing warehouse space was transformed into a hazardous sterile pharmaceutical space and support offices. The addition of a new concrete vault, a pre-engineered building, and an ACSI cyclotron enabled Ochsner Medical Center to produce and manage isotopes critical for cardiac and cancer diagnostic imaging. The construction incorporated metal stud framing, a clean room panel system and ceilings, redundant HVAC systems, chilled water, high voltage DC equipment, and upgrades to existing high voltage AC systems. Additional features included secured access and cleanroom finishes. The vault walls and ceiling were constructed with a 6-foot-thick mass concrete assembly and non-ferrous reinforcement to provide radiation shielding essential for staff safety.
